Holland Street School is a standout school in the Midwest Region providing quality learning experiences for students aged from 4-18 years old with intellectual/physical disabilities; sensory impairments; challenging behaviours; and autism spectrum disorders.

 

As an Education Support School, we specialise in the delivery of educational programs for students with complex educational needs in a safe, supportive and caring environment.  We are situated in the heart of Geraldton City and draw our 76 students from the town and surrounding communities. We operate a school bus service in conjunction with the Public Transport Authority, that brings up to 60% of our student population to school.

 

Our wonderful facilities include a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool with hoisting facilities; a purpose-built sensory room and sensory garden; therapy room; life skills centre; horticulture and recycling workshops; library; bike track; multi-sensory playgrounds and an early learning hub. Additionally, our students regularly use innovative technology to enhance their learning opportunities.

 

At Holland Street School, we have a deep commitment to the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Framework. PBS recognises the importance of creating highly engaging classrooms and supports an integrated approach to behaviour, learning and teaching. PBS builds on existing strengths, complementing and organising current programming and strategies. Our school focuses on four key areas to promote positive behaviour: Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Your Best.

 

As a small, regional school, we enjoy close working relationships with the parents of our students and our local community. We continue to work in partnership with other agencies to raise awareness and understanding around best practice for supporting our students.
